Climate Academy
The Climate Academy: a citizen space to address the climate emergency in Mallorca
The climate crisis affects many areas of daily life and is a growing concern for many people. In response, various civil society organizations have launched the Climate Academy, a pioneering project in Mallorca that aims to connect and coordinate existing initiatives. Inspired by the Académie du Climat in Paris, it is a citizen-led, independent initiative supported by organizations committed to the environment and social justice, such as Estudi General Lul·lià, Marilles, Amics de la Terra, GOB, Palma XXI, and Mallorca Preservation Fund.
Objectives
The Climate Academy seeks to raise awareness and educate citizens, with a focus on young people, about major climate and ecological challenges. Its main objectives include:
-
Environmental awareness and education: spread knowledge about climate change and biodiversity loss.
-
Practical training: provide tools to take concrete actions for adaptation and preservation of the natural environment.
-
Climate justice: reduce inequalities arising from the climate crisis, with special attention to vulnerable communities.
-
Network of activists and innovators: create a space for collaboration and exchange to build a sustainable future.
