SYNOPSIS
Ethan Sisser, a young man with terminal brain cancer, is alone in his hospital room. When he begins live-streaming his journey toward death on social media, thousands of people around the world join in to celebrate his bravery. But Ethan sets out to do more: teach the world how to die without fear. To do so, he needs to film his death.
Fulfilling Ethan's wish, his doctor Aditi Sethi moves him to an idyllic home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. What unfolds next is a story rarely seen: how a community of strangers helps a young man die with dignity.
A sensory immersion into the abandonment of the body, "The Ecstatic Last Days" reveals a man who will not let us forget him, even after he has breathed his last.
